In this new age of global terrorism and the rise of extremism among organized groups as well as individuals who act alone, Jewish Americans are at greater risk than at any other time in recent memory. This manifestation of hatred goes beyond anti-Semitic acts of vandalism and verbal harassment targeting institutions and individuals. It is a matter of record…Jewish institutions, organizations, and communities are the targets of attacks around the world. The threat posed by terrorists, extremists, and their sympathizers is real and current.

Pioneering is scope, the mandate of SCN is sweeping: the institutionalizing of a culture of security awareness and preparedness into the consciousness and operation of the American Jewish community.

The foundations for securing our facilities, training our personnel, and raising our awareness have been measurably instituted during the past four years. A lot of work remains to be done and the year ahead will undoubtedly bring new challenges. We must continue to invest in the safety and security of our communities.
